In the early 1900’s, a number of people in the outlying areas of Winnipeg were attracted to the spiritual awakening in the city and what was to become the Pentecostal movement.
In 1921, through this movement Evangel Chapel was birthed as a Sunday school in a home on Worthington Ave.
By the early 30’s the home was bursting to the seams with children so a delegation and the board purchased a home on Parkville Drive and converted it to “Beulah Mission.”
The church continued to grow and by 1955 our current location was purchased. The building of the church took just over five years to complete through mainly volunteer labor. In 1967 Evangel Chapel was registered with Revenue Canada as Evangel Chapel, a Charity operating under The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
As the church continued to grow transportation problems began to arise so the church purchased their first school bus in October of 1972. Our bus service has continued from then to this very present day.
Church building expansion occurred again in 1975 and once again in 1980 to accommodate growing numbers of congregants.
The Lord has taken us down some wonderful yet challenging roads in the last 85 plus years and we can say with full confidence that if the Lord tarries, he will lead us the next 85 and beyond.
