~ MISSIONS ~

Evangel is on the edge of some very exciting endeavors in the city of Winnipeg, our province of Manitoba and over seas in Nicaragua, Zambia, Burundi and Israel.

Locally Evangel has begun a ministry called Ambassadors for Christ where we are downtown every week reaching out to the homeless.  Providing food, hats, mitts and whatever else is needed.  We are building relationships with the down trodden of our city.  This ministry is run by Dixie Funk.

We support several missionaries in full time ministry in Canada and around the world.

Sergio and Nancy Bersaglio run a school and orphanage in Kitwe, Zambia.

Ariel and Talia Klimer operate a guest house in Haifa, Israel and minister to the poor in their area.

Our own Josh and Rosie Winter founders of the band That Place, have just recently committed to traveling with the band full time reaching out to the lost.

We have recently established a relationship with Pastor Armando Jose Arauz Manzanares and Pastor Juan Jose Escobar in Nicaragua to help them reach the poor of Nicaragua.  We are gathering second hand computers to send to Nicaragua to be recycled and put back to use.  They will be sold and the funds used to help the poor or utilized within the various organizations to teach others vital computer skills.

And finally, we are beginning a work in Bujumbura, Burundi.  We visited Burundi in April 2007 to lay the ground work for the development of an orphanage and school to help this war torn country.

Village of Hope - Burundi is an orphanage that I have spent 3 years developing.  We have just begun to care for 34 children in Bujumbura.  The capital city of one of the top ten poorest countries in the world.

I want to tell you a story about a young lady named Antoinette.  It is worth the read.

Antoinette is a 14 year old orphan without anybody to look to for any help.  She came to the city of Bujumbura to look for a job as a maid-servant.  While working at the job she was raped by a relative of her boss.  The rapist ran away and has not been held accountable for his actions.  Antoinette become pregnant as a result of the rape.  Life became even more difficult for her.  As she had to work very hard through her pregnancy to survive.  She recently was selected as one of the children that will be cared for by VOH - Burundi.  The VOH - Burundi staff has been with her through the last days of her pregnancy.  Late last week Antoinette gave birth.  Her child did not live 2 days.  VOH - Burundi has been there for her through this tragedy.  VOH paid for the funeral and took care of all the details for her.  Antoinette is still in the hospital.  She will be leaving the hospital soon to live with Mama Jeanne (VOH - Burundi Treasurer).  Antoinette's life has been very difficult and she has not had the chance to be a child.  Through VOH - Burundi she will now get the care and support she has needed for several years.  Village of Hope is a very appropriately named organization as this is exactly what we are bringing to many in the forgotten country of Burundi.

We live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world.  Help VOH - Burundi make a difference in Antoinette's and others lives with a one time donation to Villages of Hope - Africa Society.  If you are interested in child sponsorship.  Please call Dennis at 204-228-6455.
